>> good morning everyone. it's moments before 4:31. i'm jon kelley. >> i'm katty kay. first let's check the forecast. >> good morning to you. what a stellar weekend. we are going to see more beautiful weather as we head through the end of the week. for today we have changes to tell you about. temperatures are mild this morning because of a blanket of clouds overhead. drizzle out there. we'll show you where and what you can expect for the rest of the day. all you need to know is it's pretty mild. temperatures are looking good. let's find out how the drive is shaping up on monday with mike inouye. >> folks, you know at home that as you look outside things are clearer than last week. that's great news. looks like the same for the bay area bridges. we have construction but that's getting out of san francisco. eastbound over from treasure island to the oakland side. and from the oakland side, the toll plaza t incline will have construction.

getting prepared for the presidents day weekend closure. we'll watch the weather to see how that affects the plan. no slowing. we'll give you a wider look coming up. >> san jose is changing course after fighting to restrict pot clubs in the city the mayor is dropping his push for more regulation. damian trujillo joins us live at san jose which has been vocal about the proposed restrictions. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, laura. medmar did not want the city to force them to grow their own pot here. on location. citing security concerns for break-ins and robberies. after months the mayor finally raised the white flag. he and the city council wanted only ten pot clubs. there are more than 100 now. the city wanted operators to grow their own pot on site and wanted to raise a tax on pot clubs from 7% to 10%. but pot clubs gathered more than 31,000 signatures to help

overturn the new rules. couple that with a potential change in state regulations and the mayor told the "mercury news" he is backing down. the mayor will recommend in the rules committee meeting on wednesday to put the matter on the february 14th city council agenda. pot clubs are big money makers for the city. in the last few months alone they helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars each month, all of those going to the city's general fund. so, they don't want the pot clubs to go away. now they are backing off. live in san jose. damian trujillo, "today in the bay." >> thank you very much. oakland city leaders changing tactics after weekend clashes between police and occupy protesters led to more than 400 arrests. the city says it's now seeking stay away orders to keep demonstrators who have been arrested multiple times out of oakland. this coming after violent protests saturday when protesters broke into the ymca and into city hall.

inside city hall protesters damaged children's art, smashed display cases, and burned an american flag. >> what justifies taking over a ymca? what justifies vandalizing a historic beloved building that is a symbol of oakland's resilience and history. nothing. i think nothing does. >> it was a big time mess up there. at least three officers and two protesters were injured. since october mayor quan says protesters cost the cash strapped city $5 million. two million in vandalism. >> a small group of people who say they support the occupy movement try to distance themselves from the violence. >> violence should not be in oakland. if we're going to be occupying a boundary to help people we can't cross those boundaries and have violence and destruction of property and people's rights. dr. king marched for

nonviolence. >> interfaith leaders gathered for what they called a peace and economic justice rally. they say occupy protesters need to stay focused on the core message, economic equality. he also planned to hold nonviolence sem flars based on the teachings of dr. ding. >> san mateo deputies looking for two men they say stabbed several people at a wedding reception. deputies were walled to the hall on main street at around 11:30 where four men were suffering stab wounds. investigators searching for two attackers and a motive. the four were taken to the hospital with serious injuries but all four are expected to survive. >> a bay area congresswoman is asking governor brown to replace the man investigating pg&e for the deadly 2010 san bruno pipe line explosion. the palo alto weekly reports that jackie spears submitted a letter friday arguing that the public utilities commission

president michael peavy cannot be objective. the puc was headed by peavy when it was found by investigators to be partly responsible for the pipe line rupture. that explosion killed eight people and destroyed 38 homes. >> the domestic violence charges against sheriff ross mirkarimi moving forward today. a status hearing scheduled for this morning. mirkarimi is not expected to attend this. meantime, we're learning more about the prosecution's case. prosecutors want to call an expert in battered women syndrome to testify it's not unusual for victims of domestic violence to publicly deny abuse. both mirkarimi and his wife denied the domestic abuse accusations. >> today is a state holiday honoring an east bay man who stood up. he refused to go to an internment camp when citizens were rounded up. he was arrested, jailed and black listed for being

unamerican. he took his fight to the supreme court and was exonerated and awarded the national medal of justice. it's every january 30th. it's his birthday. >> it's 4:37. we had a spectacular weekend. meteorologist christina loren is here to tell us if we keep it going. >> you know, we are, mr. jon kelley. good morning to you. we have another gorgeous day. the only difference between yesterday and today is it's going to be cooler. we're going to start with more clouds and maybe, just maybe a few sprinkles up in the north bay. right now the radar is bone dry. afternoon clearing, partly cloudy. we'll see a nice second half of the day. your temperatures are working out like this. 64 in napa, about 63 in livermore and 67 degrees in san jose. meanwhile, as we head throughout the week temperatures are going to stay abnormalry warm for this time of year. we've got a super sunday coming up. i think you'll be pleased with the forecast. i'll get to my 7 day.

let's check your drive. >> i told folks about the construction on the lower deck, but let's look at the bay bridge toll plaza. you see folks are coming off of the 880 overcrossing merging to the toll plaza. the reason i point that out, that was closed until about 20 minutes ago. but i see traffic flowing now. i got the word it was open but i wanted to see the headlights. out to the maps, we're going to look at livermore, 580 moves out of the altamont pass. a clear sky this morning. and we're looking at the smooth flow at the limit all the way to the dublin interchange. 680 takes you through sunol. 680 moving through milpitas and no problems for the northbound routes out of san jose and through the south bay. a nice smooth flow along the peninsula drive if you head there via 101 or 280 no problem. the southbound direction moving nicely as well. across the bay we'll look at the san mateo bridge as well. a smooth clear view here westbound with the taillights, eastbound over to 880 with the headlights without problems for

for the women with, ashley wagner wowed the crowd saturday picking up her first ever national title. on the men's side, jeremy abbott, he had it going on. he made history winning his third tight well the highest score ever recorded at these championships. abbott landed the only quadruple jump of the day. >> i like that, you read that. san francisco, celebration of a different kind, the zoo bringing in the year of the dragon with its most dragon like resident. the 4-year-old lizard has been part of the education program since 2010. the zoo celebrated the lunar new year with chinese yoyo tricks and the zodiac tour. >> dancing and yo-yo tricks. investors keeping an eye on europe where the european union

is dealing with greece's debt crisis and all of this expected to impact trading on wall street for details on that and the rest of the news we turn it over to jackie deangelis live at cnbc world headquarters. good morning. >> good morning. the futures are lower as investors wait the news from the eu summit in brussels. leaders are expected to announce a deal to restructure greece's debt and create a bailout fund. asian markets fell and it's a busy week for economic data here in the united states. we're going to get news on personal income and spending, consumer confidence, auto sales and home prices, all topped off by friday's jobs report which may show that unemployment picked up to 8.6%. we saw the dow fall 74 points on friday to close at 12,660, the nasdaq adding 11 points to close at 2816. facebook may be ready to update its status. reports say the social networking giant will file ipo papers on wednesday and what would be the largest internet

offering ever. facebook reportedly aims to raise $10 billion which would value the company of $100 billion. that's one mcdonald's plus half a walmart. the ipo if all goes well could happen by late spring or early summer. the friendly skies may be smaller, reports saying that delta airlines is eyeing u.s. airways as a possible takeover target, weighing a similar approach to american which filed for bankruptcy in november. the final decision may come down to which deal makes the most sense for the company. delta's last deal was buying northwest. that's it for us here. first in business worldwide. back over to you. >> jackie, thank you very much for the report. >> time to say good monday morning to meteorologist christina loren. going to look at the forecast. >> what a beautiful weekend. >> gorgeous. >> we're going to get more this week. we do need the rain. our best rain chances right now, unfortunately, the radar is bone dry. hey, if you like what we had for saturday and sunday, we've got

more of the same as we head through the week, temperatures stay above the seasonal averages. this morning mild, no need for the heavy jacket in places like novato and san francisco in the 50s. you'll probably need one in the south bay where we're chillier. throughout the morning we'll continue to drop off, probably the next couple of hours expecting the lows to end up in the low 40s. even the cooler cities by the bay. you can see now, 4:00 a.m. we have mostly cloudy condition, the clouds will start to clear by about 8:00 a.m. from the north bay and clear as we head through the afternoon by 11:00 a.m. getting mostly sunny conditions. because of the cloud cover to start out it's going to be cooler than yesterday. 65 in morgan hill. 66 in milpitas today. 64 for walnut creek, across the water, 58 degrees, that'sed today in bodega bay. we'll get the 60s and the 70s back on this map very quickly. by about wednesday temperatures climbing again. so it all works out like this. we're going to see really

poll shows romney has taken a 15-point lead 18 state with 50 delegates on the line. and it is winner take all. ron paul isn't campaigning in florida. rick santorum has gone back to pennsylvania to tend to his ailing daughter. that makes florida a two-man contest. >> 196 house republicans that voted to reprimand newt gingrich when he was speaker. >> reporter: romney unleashed a harsh series of ads, he says that's not why gingrich is falling behind. >> he is looking for an accuse but i'm afraid the real reason he hasn't been successful connecting with the people of florida is his failure to connect to the people in this state. >> reporter: in florida, a nomination fight that's gotten personal. romney beats his fellow republicans in the latest nbc poll, he is trailing president obama 49 to 41%. brian mooar, nbc news, washington. >> thank you very much, brian. >> it's 4:48. here is a question. what would you give up to see

constituents. president obama plans to hold a live video chat this afternoon where he will answer questions about last week's state of the union address, google says the president will participate in a 45-minute hang-out on google plus. he plans to answer questions submitted by americans via youtube and talk live with some selected participants throughout the video connection. >> it is 4:53 now. it's the final six days leading up to the super bowl xlvi and the host city indianapolis ready to welcome two teams playing on sunday. the new england patriots are there, their plane touched down yesterday. new york giants will arrive in indianapolis today. sunday's super bowl is a rematch between the teams, the giants beat the patriots in super bowl xlii. if you don't have tickets you can watch the game right here on nbc bay area. oh, yeah, kickoff at 3:30 p.m. it's funny, a new survey takes a look at what length someone would go to to see the super
